Mesquite Day Trip - 8/23/16

We'd gotten a coupon book for Mesquite, NV's Casablanca and Virgin River Casinos in the mail awhile back. One of the coupons was for a free night stay at either casino! Based on ratings and amenities, we chose Casablanca. DDR was at Virgin River but that wasn't far from Casablanca anyway.

We got to Mesquite at 2:20pm on 8/23/16. Check-in at Casablanca wasn't til 4pm so we went to Virgin Virgin River Casino's arcade first to play DDR Max 2. The pads were still really good. 1P was slightly better than 2P. We got the occasional miss but managed to do an Oni course together! The machine was still only $0.50/3 song credit plus extra stage. We played several credits, got adequately sweaty, and then played some funny ticket redemption game called Fishing Frenzy that Sean likes. He's really good at it so we got lots of tickets for our efforts and spent them all on Tootsie Rolls!

Thirsty then, we drove to a Maverik and got Mountain Dew Pitch Black fountain drink refills.

It was time to check in! We drove down the street to Casablanca and got our free room! (Well, we paid a $5 resort fee but can't complain about $5.) After settling in in our room and leaving some work running on Sean's computer so we'd be getting paid to have fun, we went to explore and take advantage of all the perks and amenities we could.

We used another coupon we'd received for $3 off at their cafe and got a hot tea for Sean and an iced coffee for me for just $1.89 out of pocket!

We'd only been to Casablanca once before and it'd been quite awhile since then so we revisited their little arcade to see if anything had changed. Still no music games but Sean had a good long run on Metal Slug 6 for just $0.50 and we found an awesome Ninja Turtles Leonardo toy there.

The pool area was near there. Pretty fancy! There was a big pool, an awesome hot tub, a little waterslide into the pool for the kids (which we obviously had a go on), man made waterfalls at the pool and hot tub, a tennis court (indoors, I believe), and a fitness center. The fitness center was a fancy little building with windows (in place of walls) overlooking the pool but it only had 2 treadmills and a stair machine inside. All 3 machines were facing a central tv but one of the treadmills was very poorly placed so the user would end up staring at the side of the tv despite there being tons of better spots open where it could've been set up. When we arrived, there were already guys on both treadmills so we opted to come back later.

We spent a good couple of hours relaxing in the hot tub, goofing off, working out in the pool, working up a big appetite that only a buffet would satisfy. Fortunately, we had a 2 for 1 buffet deal for Virgin River and it was steak night there! We drove back over there next and spent $16 plus tip on some of the best buffet food I've ever had!

As usual, we overdid it at the buffet so our next 3 hours were spent regretting everything, lounging in our hotel room, and watching tv. Finally, however, we mustered up the willpower to waddle back over to the now-empty fitness center and workout for a good while, trading off on the stair machine and the treadmill with the better TV view while watching Twilight! Lol

Then we went back to our room to wash, watch more TV, and eventually get some sleep.

In the morning, we checked out of the hotel. We got some ice cream using a $2 off coupon before leaving though. 2 delicious scoops for only $1.50 plus tax and tip!

We picked up a Uship item we'd been booked to transport on the way home and then it was back to reality. Well, for a few days anyway!
