Cowabunga Bay Water Park 9/7/14

Sean and I found a couple of Groupon deals for one of Vegas' two new waterparks called Cowabunga Bay.

Cowabunga Bay
900 Galleria Dr,
Henderson, NV 89011
(801) 553-1000

The most awesome of these deals was admission for four people with a large cheese pizza and four drinks for $100! (One day admission is normally $36 or so per person so it was an awesome deal!) We hadn't been to either of the water parks in town yet and the season would be ending soon so we decided to take advantage. We asked our roommate Danny and our friend Marquee whether they'd want to join us and they both said yes! I'd just received a Groupon coupon code in my email so Sean and I used it for a $10 discount and bought the deal!

With the season coming to a close, the dates the park was  open were limited. It was open over the weekend though so we went on Sunday at 11am (opening time)! Inside, we found a kids area, a wave pool, a lazy river, six slides, a small arcade and mini gift shop, and a few places to eat and snack.

The wave pool had all kinds of waves including the strongest, meanest, and most fun ones I'd ever encountered in a wave pool. The lazy river was exactly what you'd expect from a lazy river. The slides varied from fast and intense to peaceful and smooth to interesting and unique. Some of them didn't quite work for us as expected and we got a bit stuck/stopped moving inside and had to push ourselves along due to errors in water flow direction or amounts but we found them all fun nonetheless! The park itself was a bit small but looked like there might possibly be plans to expand. It definitely wasn't too bad considering it was so new. One of the best things about it for us (maybe not for them) though was that there were super short lines and sometimes no lines at all for the slides! We didn't know if it was due to being so late in the season, the place being so new, or what but it worked out for us and we got to go on each of the slides at least once!

Danny and Marquee went in the lazy river and wave pool with us but would only join us on one of the slides. They ate and looked inside the arcade/gift shop with us though. The arcade was very small with new games, none of which were music games or games we found very interesting. The games didn't accept cash or coins either but required a game card instead. Fortunately, the game cards were free and could be loaded in $1 increments. The gift card section didn't have much but they did sell flip flops, snacks, and a few other things you might use at the park. Just behind the arcade/gift shop were the rental lockers. We'd decided not to use the lockers this time as the prices were pretty steep (starting at $8), the place wasn't super busy, we could see our stuff where we left it from just about wherever we went in the park, and two of us weren't going on slides anyway.

As for the food, we cashed in our pizza and drink voucher, thinking it wouldn't be enough for all of us but soon discovering that we were very wrong! The voucher was for 4 non-refillable (except for free water) drinks and a normally $17.50 large cheese pizza with optional topping additions for $2. We didn't bother getting extra toppings. When our pizza came out, it really was large! It was 12 slices and very cheesy. Between the 4 of us, we almost finished it but couldn't quite do it and were all super full after trying!

We stayed at the park til a little after 3pm. By that time, we'd done pretty much all there was to do in the park, had had our fill of waterslides and pools for the day, and had had an absolutely amazing time! We still haven't checked out Wet N' Wild here to compare the two yet but I'm sure we'll get around to that in the not-too-distant future. In the meantime, keep your eye on my YouTube for videos of Cowabunga Bay  and see for yourself just how much fun you'll have there!:
