My sister Liz's fiancé Kyle's birthday was coming up so Liz booked them some last minute flights from San Francisco to Vegas to come and visit us!
Day 1 - 8/8/15:
We picked Liz and Kyle up at the airport when they arrived around 2pm today! We put the top down on the car and started towards home but made a few stops along the way.
Our first stop was at the British pub Crown and Anchor. We had to show them the place! We shared a few beers and played some darts there before moving on.
Then we stopped at the 99 Centers store near Chase to grab some supplies and at Speedee Mart so I could get us a free Icee.
Back home, we got Liz and Kyle settled in the side room our friend Ryan recently moved out of and then got started on the alcohol, including some Moonshine cherries Sean and I had to have them try. We're all such bad influences on each other! Lol
Sean and I hadn't had time to maintain our pool so it'd turned an ugly green. We started it draining then though so we'd be able to fill it up again and enjoy it while Liz and Kyle were here. Then we invited Danny for food and all went to eat at Cici's Pizza. I had a loyalty stamp card there so we even got one free buffet. :) While eating, an employee there gave Sean and Kyle 4 free tickets to the Las Vegas Outlaws indoor football game at UNLV's Thomas and Mack Center that night!
Once home again, we got Kyle to try a few of our dance games and even played two songs each ourselves on ITG. Then Kyle and Sean got a mini workout goofing off in the mini gym and we all got ready for the football game that night. We took a few drinks with us and pregamed in the parking lot before going inside. That wasn't quite enough though so Kyle got us some halftime shots as well!
After football, we drove downtown to Fremont Street to show Liz and Kyle around. We took them to Container Park to see the giant praying mantis and wound up climbing and playing in the jungle gym inside before playing and attacking each other with giant Lego pieces we discovered on the fake grass in front of the stage. Too fun! Everyone was watching and laughing at us but it didn't slow us down any.
Continuing down Fremont towards The Plaza, we stopped in the bar I like there called The Griffin. It was busy and there was nowhere to sit but we found a spot to stand and order drinks at the far end of the bar. We got a round chocolate beers and sipped them down, struggling to get them to fit in our bellies.
Then we watched the Fremont Street light show!
We showed Liz and Kyle the club I used to dance at, peeked in Mermaids (unfortunately out of all the foods we wanted), looked around some souvenir shops, and tried to get into Gold Spike but there was way too long of a line and it was way too busy. Finally, when we'd seen enough and were feeling pretty hungry, we headed out and made our way to Palace Station for tasty graveyard specials!
The itis set in pretty hard then. We got back home and Liz went straight to bed. The rest of us stayed up for a bit and had more drinks. Then Kyle joined my sister in bed and Sean and I went to our room to watch Netflix and pass our together as well.
Day 2 - 8/9/15:
Everyone was pretty damn tired still when Sean got up to clean out the pool and start refilling it. We couldn't believe how sweet of him that was but we all appreciated it so much! He had a short nap again afterward and Kyle was still in bed but Liz and I got up and used my Keurig coffee maker to make coffee for ourselves. (We made coffee and tea for the boys when they woke up a little later.)
Once we were finally all up and ready for the day, we left the house and drove towards Broadacres Swap Meet to show Liz and Kyle something a bit different and get a little shopping done. The heat and sun were a bit much at the time, especially for Liz who kept taking cover anywhere she could find a little shade. We all had a really good time though and found some great deals.
We hit up some yard sales in search of more deals after that and even flagged down an ice cream truck that was passing by one of the sales while we were at it!
Then we made our way home again, stopping for drinks and gas on the way, and went for a much needed dip with the doggies (ours and those we were sitting) and played some basketball in our partially full pool.
We'd worked up a hell of an appetite by that time so we took some coupons we had and went with Danny to fill our tummies at Sweet Tomatoes.
Once again, the itis set in pretty hard and we had to chill out for a bit at home. Liz slept it off but the rest of us just hung out for awhile. Sean and I did a bit of work, a few of the dogs we were sitting got picked up by their owners, and then we went to a store called Total Wine and More to see what we could surprise Liz with when we got back home to her.
When we got to Total Wine and More, we were pretty excited to see how big the place was. We found so many drinks we didn't even know existed there. Best of all, we found some knock-off 151 much cheaper than the normal Bacardi 151 I'm used to drinking! All in all, we spent $60 there and went home tons of booze!
Home again, Liz woke up, Marquee came over, and Danny came downstairs to hang out for a bit before going to bed. Those of us who were drinking started on the alcohol, we made up a hookah, and we took a ton of pool toys and inflatables out for LOTS of horseplay in the now nearly full pool. After that, we lit the BBQ and thawed out while cooking hot dogs and sipping even more booze.
Marquee finally had to head home but she didn't have gas money so we sent her away with a $10. Kyle was the next to go. He was pretty drunk and eventually just walked up to bed without a word and fell asleep. Lol Liz followed him up to cuddle with him and Sean and I brought snacks and Sean's laptop into the room Liz and Kyle were staying in so we could watch some Sharknado 2 with Liz while pigging out before passing out. At one point, Liz completely stopped watching the movie, closed her eyes, and started shoveling a whole bag of chips into her mouth, not opening her eyes again til noon! Sean and I passed out on the floor nearby and didn't get up til noon either.
Day 3 - 8/10/15:
Once we were all up again, we refreshed ourselves with lots more pool play including flips, races, and silly games.
Then it was food time. Danny, Liz, and I took the Mazda 3 and let Sean ride with Kyle, who wanted to drive the Mustang, to Roberto's.
The boys all went in the Mazda 3 to Gamestop after that and Liz and I took the Mustang and went shopping at Epic Thrift in the same parking lot. Sean and Kyle met us in Epic after they were done at Gamestop and Danny went home. They were feeling a bit drowsy then though so we had to keep them moving!
Next, we went to Pinball Hall of Fame and had more fun and spent more time there together than Sean and I ever have before! We played lots of silly games and even got some $0.25 popcorn.
Next door, we looked around a bit in A Gamer's Paradise and spotted the Jurassic Park Jeep pulling up outside as we were leaving!
My sister had never been to a trampoline park before and I thought it was important that we changed that. I didn't want to take her just anywhere though so I took her to the most fun Vegas trampoline location I could think of: Gravady. Not only was there much more to do there, as it was an air sports center rather than just a trampoline park, but it was family night and therefore just $35 total for 1 hour admission for everyone in our immediate family. We told them Liz and Kyle were already married so the $35 covered us all and saved us $17 off normal admission prices! Once in, we did just about EVERYTHING there was to do there and completely wore Liz and Kyle out in the process! Beginning the next day, we'd all be feeling it for the rest of their visit.
We needed to relax a bit after that so we decided to go to The Olive hookah lounge. Before going in, we spent a little time in the parking lot sipping some vodka we'd brought. There was live music in one of the rooms inside The Olive so we couldn't sit there without spending a ridiculous amount to do so. Luckily, the brightly lit room, which wasn't quite as cozy, proved to be more entertaining anyway as they had pool tables there and Liz and I could sit and chat while Sean and Kyle played $1 games of pool. We ordered a raspberry mint hookah and some Mediterranean snack and spent a good couple of hours enjoying ourselves there til closing time at midnight.
It was officially Kyle's 25th birthday then!! To begin the celebration, we drank more vodka outside and then drove to Gold Coast for graveyard bowling specials and beer. Of course, I played unbelievably badly (even moreso than usual) and came in last on points but no one cared! We were having too much fun just being silly and spending time together. After a long while though, Liz was got little too drunk and started falling asleep. I carried her out of there but she did and said some funny things along the way. I think the most memorable thing was this:
Liz: "There are so many vertebraes."
Sean: "If you could only pick fourteen vertebraes, which ones would you choose?"
Liz (with a straight face): "The first ten."
Back home, Kyle put Liz to bed. Sean and I made some food, watched Netflix in our room, and finally went to sleep but as we were falling asleep Kyle came into our room, fell over all of our stuff, and landed half in bed with us! I was out of it and confused but I managed to ask him whether he wanted to get into bed with us and sleep but he instead left, took a long pee (fortunately in the toilet), and disappeared to bed with Liz.
Day 4 - 8/11/15 (Kyle's Birthday!):
It was late afternoon when we all finally crawled out of bed and even then it took us awhile to get rolling. Being Kyle's birthday, he started on the beer right away while playing some video games on our PS2. Sean joined him for a bit while Liz and I browsed and rated pics of hot guys. Then we drove to Maryland and Flamingo where Sean and Kyle went game shopping at Gamestop and Liz and I had a look around in Sally Beauty Supply next door.
While we were out, another dog owner dropped two chihuahuas off with Danny (who was home at the time) for us to watch for a few days.
Kyle works for AT&T and gets great rates on their services and Sean and I were in need of new phone plans. Luckily, AT&T was just down the street so we stopped in and Liz and Kyle added us onto their plan for only $7.50 each per month! Of course, we'd be paying them for that. What sucked though was that the employees had some trouble getting us added on and we spent an hour and a half sitting there waiting! Lame but worth it.
It was getting late then and we needed to start the real birthday partying but first we needed to prepare our stomachs. We went to Cane's for a quick bite and then drove to the strip, parked at Planet Hollywood, took our yard glass for a $24 refill, and walked the strip!
Sean and I had 2 Cosmopolitan vouchers for $25 (so $50 total) in free play and 2 buy-one get-one-free coffee vouchers for a cafe there so we took Liz and Kyle in, got them their first casino free play ever, got free drinks since we were gambling, and finished up there with a couple of coffees from the cafe.
Back on the strip, we got to see the Bellagio fountains on the way to Casino Royale. We spent a lot of time at Casino Royale drinking lots of $2 shots and $1 beers at the bar, eating White Castle (we had a $5 gift card and Liz and Kyle had never been), and finally pigging out even more with $2.49 footlong hot dogs.
Then we made our way back to the car and drove home for the afterparty. We drank SO MUCH MORE there and Sean and I even hopped in the pool and played with the dogs a bit. I don't remember any of the night after that but apparently we all decided to head to our rooms, Sean and I decided to try and do each other, I started puking, he helped me to the restroom, I let him do me (I assume doggie style) while I was puking, and my sister walked in on us and said, "You guys are into some kinky shit." Lol Unfortunately I was way too drunk and neither Sean nor I got to finish. Instead, I fell down the side of the toilet and then went back to our bed and passed out for a moment. I wasn't breathing though so Sean had to wake me and when he did I apparently started bawling my eyes out with no explanation. This happened a few more times before I started breathing normally and Sean and I finally fell asleep together.
Day 5 - 8/12/15:
Needless to say, we were pretty hungover today. It was almost impossible for any of us to get out of bed but we all finally had to to get Kyle and Liz to the airport. Luckily, I'd ton plenty of puking the night before. Liz wasn't quite so lucky though and, instead, she had to take breaks from packing and spend a fair amount of time puking. Finally though, we got them both packed, ready, and headed to the airport. We were, of course, sad to see them go but I'm sure our bodies we're all very grateful! Til next time, I guess!
